Devotional:
Readings: Acts 28 | Judges 4
The Book of Acts ends not with a period, but with an open door. Paul is in chains, yet the Word of God is “unhindered.” There is a holy irony here: the world thought it had silenced the gospel by locking up the messenger, but the gospel only grew louder.
This same “unhindered” power is pulse-quickening in Judges 4. When the traditional structures of power faltered, God breathed His Spirit into Deborah and Jael. He is a God who will not be boxed in. He doesn’t need a palace or a massive army to accomplish His will; He only needs a heart that says “Yes.”
Whether it is a woman under a palm tree judging Israel or an old apostle in a rented room in Rome, the Kingdom of God moves forward with an unstoppable, quiet beauty.
We worship the King who reigns over every prison and every battlefield, proving that nothing in all creation can stop His purposes.
Discussion Questions:
- Acts 28:31 describes Paul welcoming all who came to him “with all boldness.” What does bold worship look like for you in your current season of life?
- How can we cultivate a spirit of proactive praise, trusting God for the victory before the battle is even over?
Dig Deeper
As we near the end of our reading in Acts, let’s camp out on this message from Antioch’s 2020 sermon series, “Unstoppable,” as Pastor Stephen Castleberry examines the end of the book of Acts.
Have you ever considered how Acts ends? What if the end of Acts is less about wrapping up the story of the early church and more about what our responsibility is today?
We are praying for you as you dig into God’s Word this week!
