Series Overview
Jesus’ own words tell us why He taught in parables: “Because the secrets of the kingdom of heaven have been given for you to know, but it has not been given to them.” (Matthew 13:11)
The “them” in this verse are those with hard hearts who rejected Jesus; those who wanted to see more signs and miracles but refused Jesus’ message. To you who have eyes to see, the parables are beautiful stories that teach powerful lessons about Jesus being the ONE way to God’s Kingdom!
Lesson Overview
Perhaps when we first read the parable of the Vineyard Laborers we feel all that they feel: outrage, frustration, entitled to more. But when we dig deeper, and reread the landowners response in verses 13-15, the whole narrative changes. God is our generous landowner!
How grateful I am for the generosity of God for continuing to look for workers, for freely offering a home in Heaven still after all these years of people choosing to follow Him?! What gift of grace are we all able to receive because of this!?
