Readings: Acts 5-6 | Luke 5:4

Integrity is what happens when no one is looking, but Acts 5 reminds us that God is always looking. The story of Ananias and Sapphira is a sobering reminder that a church built on “More than Words” must be built on truth. At the same time, we see the apostles choosing leaders full of faith and the Spirit to serve the widows, ensuring that the church’s actions matched its message.

In Luke 5, Jesus tells Peter to “put out into the deep.” Peter was tired and his nets were empty, but he obeyed. Authentic faith often requires us to go deeper than the surface level of our own comfort or our own reputation. It requires an “at your word” kind of obedience.

This week, ask yourself: Is my faith a shallow shoreline activity, or am I willing to go into the “deep” things of God? Integrity means making sure our internal “deep” matches our external “words.” When we move in true obedience, our nets won’t just be full; they’ll be overflowing with God’s provision!

Discussion Questions:

  • Acts 5 shows the importance of integrity. Why is “More than Words” (authenticity) vital for the church’s witness?
  • Jesus tells Peter to “let down the nets” in deep water. Where is God asking you to “go deep” in your faith, even if it feels inconvenient?

Dig Deeper

What does it really mean to live filled by the Holy Spirit? Teaching from Acts 2 in part 3 of the “Live” series, Pastor Andy talks about who the Holy Spirit is and what His role is in our lives. As we’ll discover together, living by the Spirit isn’t as wild and crazy as some make it out to be.

We are praying for you as you dig into God’s Word this week!
