Connect the Dots | NOVEMBER WK 5

The birth of Jesus was God’s plan from the beginning! We can see this more fully as we look at each Gospel’s account of the Christmas Story! We can see the prophecy fulfilled (Mark); how Jesus was the Word made flesh (John); how God protected the lineage for 42 generations to ordain the birth of Christ (Matthew); and finally, the glorious night our Savior was born (Luke)! His birth truly is Good News of GREAT JOY!

Prophecy means to tell before. The men who wrote the Old Testament said a messenger was going to tell people Jesus was God’s son. Many years after the OT prophecy, Mark tells the story of Jesus’ life; it happens exactly as the prophecy said it would!

John the Baptist had been sharing about who Jesus was—preparing the way. And then John baptized Jesus—a sign of obedience to God!

Because of this prophecy—we can see that Jesus’ birth and life was something God had planned from the very beginning.

Listen to a variety of Christmas songs. Discuss which ones tell about Jesus and which ones don’t.

What is the difference between: PROPHECY and PROPHESY?

Luke 1:5-25, 36-56

How are John and Jesus related?

Ask God who needs to hear the truth of the Christmas story this year. Make a plan to share it!
