Connect the Dots | June | Week 2

Jesus’ own words tell us why He taught in parables: “Because the secrets of the kingdom of heaven have been given for you to know, but it has not been given to them.” (Matthew 13:11)

The “them” in this verse are those with hard hearts who rejected Jesus; those who wanted to see more signs and miracles but refused Jesus’ message. To you who have eyes to see, the parables are beautiful stories that teach powerful lessons about Jesus being the ONE way to God’s Kingdom!

In Mark 4, Jesus shares the parable of the sower. We learn about some seed that becomes bird snacks; other seed struggles to grow deep roots; still other seed gets choked by thorns. Finally, we’re told there are seeds planted in rich, fertile soil.

Only these seeds are able to establish deep roots and grow abundant fruit!

But it’s His explanation just a few verses later that fully gives this parable its power. May we all have ears to hear and be deeply rooted in God’s Word!
