Devotion by Mela Knight
“For he is our peace, who made both groups one and tore down the dividing wall of hostility. In his flesh, he made of no effect the law consisting of commands and expressed in regulations, so that he might create in himself one new man from the two, resulting in peace. He did this so that he might reconcile both to God in one body through the cross by which he put the hostility to death.” (Ephesians 2:14-16)
So often, we tend to let the chaos of this world send us into a spiral of despair. Yet here, Paul reminds us that we are no longer bound by this world. We have put our faith in Jesus, allowing Him to become our peace.
Because of this truth, we can let go of any differences we may have with others, labels that we have been given, or failures we have allowed to define us, because we are made new in the One who gave His life to make us righteous. Jesus has brought us together and united us as one through Him.
Our Father calls us His children. You are precious in His eyes. You are seen and known by The Almighty Creator of the universe, and He calls you HIS! Rejoice and praise the Lord with all your heart and soul, for He is the Prince of Peace!
Reflect:
“I lift my eyes toward the mountains. Where will my help come from? My help comes from the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth.” (Psalm 121:1-2)
– Where do you allow your thoughts to go when the chaos starts to overwhelm you?
– What are some truths that you can remember and lean on to redirect your thoughts back to God in these moments?
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, guide our hearts, minds, and souls to your precious peace that surpasses all understanding. Remove any doubts we may have and strengthen our resolve to look to You daily, instead of the lies of this world. Give us eyes to see, ears to hear, and a renewed spirit of the amazing peace and true joy that can only be found within Your Word. We love you and ask these things in the Mighty name of Jesus Christ, our precious Lord and Savior, Amen!
