You have been incredible in stepping up to serve in the wake of the recent flooding across Central Texas. From cleaning up debris at local RV parks to helping with riverside recovery efforts in Kerrville, your commitment to Central Texas flood relief truly embodies the hands and feet of Jesus. Thank you for being boots-on-the-ground faithful to God’s call to “serve one another through love” (Galatians 5:13).
Many of you have reached out asking how you can help, especially with opportunities that are kid-friendly. Here’s the latest information on where to serve:
Kerrville Cleanup – Hard but Meaningful Work
Church Connection: If you’re looking for hands-on labor helping clear debris along the Guadalupe River in Kerrville, reach out to Pastor Darrell Hudson (darrell@antiochgt.com) and let him know you’re interested. He’s assembling a team to return and continue the work he began earlier this week.
Samaritan’s Purse: Also serving in Kerrville flood recovery, Samaritan’s Purse is actively on the ground, helping homeowners recover from the flood. There are many ways to get involved, and they’re looking for flood relief volunteers to join their efforts. Find out more and sign up here.
Local Opportunities
ADRN: If you’d prefer something more local, we highly encourage you to sign up with the Austin Disaster Relief Network. They’re a trusted organization made up of nearly 200 churches and thousands of trained volunteers working together to bring hope in times of crisis.
Jonah Community Center: Just nine miles from the church, this center is serving as a donation hub for relief supplies, and they could use extra hands organizing donations on Wednesday, July 16, from 10 AM to 4 PM. From Friday through Sunday, they’re also looking for volunteers to help deliver supplies to various locations. If you’re interested, text Tracey Crow at (512) 848-0710.
Family-Safe Opportunity
Looking for a place where your kids can serve alongside you? Sweet Eats Fruit Farm, a beloved local spot that was heavily impacted by the flood, could use your help with cleanup. As of right now, they’ll be working:
⁃ Wednesday, July 16 from 7 AM to 1 PM
⁃ Thursday, July 17 from 7 AM to 1 PM
⁃ Friday, July 18 from 7 AM to 1 PM
⁃ Monday, July 21 from 7 AM to 1 PM
Please sign in at the Sweet Eats General Store and they’ll tell you where to go. Please bring water, lunch, hat, work gloves, sunscreen, an bug spray.
Again, thank you for being a church that loves to serve. Jesus said of Himself, “The Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve” (Matthew 20:28; Mark 10:45). When you serve, you reflect His heart—and it doesn’t go unnoticed!
If you know of additional ways to serve, please share them in the “Put Me in Coach” chat group in our app!
