Devotional:
Readings: Acts 27 | Judges 3:12-30
There is a profound comfort in knowing that our God is the Master of the “unexpected.” In Acts 27, the sky is black, and the ship is breaking apart, yet Paul stands firm. He isn’t brave because of his own strength; he is brave because he belongs to the God who owns the storm. He worships in the middle of the hurricane, breaking bread and giving thanks while the waves still crash.
Then we look at Ehud in Judges—a man whose “left-handedness” was seen as a limitation, yet it was the very tool God used to bring about a miraculous rescue. What a majestic God we serve!
He is not limited by our storms, nor by our perceived “disabilities.” He is the God who uses the small, the strange, and the stranded to show forth His glory. Today, we worship the One who holds the winds in His fists and our lives in His hands.
Discussion Questions:
- In Acts 27:23, Paul says, “the God to whom I belong and whom I serve.” How does truly belonging to God change your perspective when your circumstances seem out of control?
- Ehud’s story shows God working through a unique physical trait. In your times of worship, have you ever thanked God for the limitations you have that might actually be His chosen tools for your life?
Dig Deeper
As we near the end of our reading in Acts, let’s camp out on this message from Antioch’s 2020 sermon series, “Unstoppable,” as Pastor Stephen Castleberry examines the end of the book of Acts.
Have you ever considered how Acts ends? What if the end of Acts is less about wrapping up the story of the early church and more about what our responsibility is today?
We are praying for you as you dig into God’s Word this week!
