Welcome to week 19 of Weekly Word!
Join us as we continue our journey together through the Book of Ephesians and focus on the Armor of God. We pray that these weekly readings continue to stir your heart as you abide in Christ!
Below, you’ll find your readings for this week, along with discussion questions and a short devotional for you to enjoy at the end of the week.
This week, we will focus on the third part of God’s armor: The Shoes of Peace (The Gospel)
Readings:
- Ephesians 3
- Ephesians 6:10-15
- Judges 9
Devotional:
Readings: Ephesians 3 | Ephesians 6:10-15 | Judges 9
In Ephesians 3, Paul prays that we would be “rooted and grounded in love,” understanding the vast dimensions of Christ’s heart for us. This is the very opposite of the world’s way, seen clearly in Judges 9. Abimelech’s pursuit of power and pride brought only division and destruction. But the Good News (the gospel) brings peace between God and man and between God’s people.
Having our feet “sandaled with readiness for the gospel of peace” (Ephesians 6:15) means we can choose the path of reconciliation and humility, as followers of Christ! When we are at peace with God, we can go and be peacemakers in a broken world.
So, may we ready our feet with this gospel and share the peace of Christ with those we encounter this week!
Discussion Questions:
- How can you practically root your life in Christ’s love in the middle of a busy, stressful week?
- What does it mean for your feet to be ready with the Gospel of Peace when you are in the middle of a conflict?
- Abimelech sought status at the cost of others. Where do you see the temptation to value being right or being powerful over unity? How can you pursue peace, instead?
Dig Deeper
Are you walking around spiritually barefoot? As followers of Jesus, we need the right shoes!
In this sermon from Antioch’s 2022 sermon series, “Resistible,” Pastor Andy Comer teaches what God’s Word says is the armor for our feet.
