Readings: Acts 11-12 | Luke 8:39
Acts 12 gives us one of the most vivid pictures of God’s intervention: Peter is in prison, chained between soldiers, and an angel simply walks him out. When he gets to the believers, they can hardly believe it’s him! His freedom was a testimony that left them astonished.
In Luke 8, Jesus heals a man and tells him, “Return to your home, and declare how much God has done for you.” We often think we need a degree or a title to be a witness, but the most powerful tool you have is your own story of freedom.
Like Peter, you were once chained—perhaps by fear, shame, or a past you couldn’t change. But Christ has walked you out of that prison. Now, your next step is simply to go back to your sphere of influence and tell people what God has done. Your story of God’s grace is the most convincing sermon you will ever preach!
Discussion Questions:
- When Peter was freed from prison (Acts 12), he went straight to the believers. How does your community help you tell what God has done when you experience a breakthrough?
- Barnabas was an encourager. Who can you encourage this week to tell their story?
Dig Deeper
In Acts 5, Ananias and Saphira were trying to do a good thing, but they had the wrong motive. Do our motives matter? In this message from the 2020 “Church Probs” series, Pastor Andy unpacks the biblical definition of lying.
We are praying for you as you dig into God’s Word this week!
