Series Overview
The Bible is God’s Word. Every person mentioned in its pages is there on purpose, for a purpose. And sometimes people have the same name and we mix them up, or we aren’t sure what a person did, or we have never even heard his or her name! In this series, we’re going to dig into God’s Word to look at commonly mixed up or overlooked people to learn “Who’s Who in the Bible!”
Lesson Overview
The Bible gives us accounts for two men named Saul. As we dig in to the life of each, they kind of mirror one another. King Saul is an Old Testament figure. We are told he is a man of integrity and humility. God anoints him king over the Israelites and then he turns back from following God’s commands. God decides Saul can no longer be king. (see 1 Samuel 9-15) Saul in the New Testament is an angry man on a mission to punish & imprison Christians. Then one day he encounters Jesus and learns the truth of the cross. He is forever changed & spends his life sharing Jesus with everyone he can through his words and writings. Much of the NT books are his letters to churches. (see Acts 9) Same name. Different stories. Both teach us about our God!
