Connect the Dots | AUGUST WK 5

The Bible is God’s Word. Every person mentioned in its pages is there on purpose, for a purpose. And sometimes people have the same name and we mix them up, or we aren’t sure what a person did, or we have never even heard his or her name! In this series, we’re going to dig into God’s Word to look at commonly mixed up or overlooked people to learn “Who’s Who in the Bible!”

There are several women named Mary in the Bible! This can make it hard to know which Mary a passage is discussing! Our classes discussed three of the Marys from scripture:

Mary, the mother of Jesus

Mary Magdalene

Mary of Bethany

One woman carried Jesus in her womb, another was healed by Him and became the first to see the empty tomb, and yet another, overwhelmed by her love for Him, wiped His feet with perfume using her hair!!

Luke 1:26-38
Luke 8:2
John 20:1-18
Luke 10:38-42
Matt 26:6-13
John 11:1-3

While the passages are read, stand up, jump, or hop each time you hear the name Mary!

One meaning of the name Mary is “beloved”. How does this meaning hold true for each of our Marys?

With supervision, look up and share the meaning of each name in your family!
