Connect the Dots | December | Week 2

The birth of Jesus was God’s plan from the beginning! We can see this more fully as we look at each Gospel’s account of the Christmas Story! We can see the prophecy fulfilled (Mark); how Jesus was the Word made flesh (John); how God protected the lineage for 42 generations to ordain the birth of Christ (Matthew); and finally, the glorious night our Savior was born (Luke)! His birth truly is Good News of GREAT JOY!

A very long list of names at first pass may not seem very important. But Scripture is God-breathed… even long lists of names that appear in Scripture. In this case, Matthew outlines Jesus’ family tree back to Abraham. Why does this matter?

Jesus is part of the fulfillment of the promise God made with Abraham. AND we can see how God protected Jesus’ lineage for generations to ordain His birth at the right time and place to fulfill God’s perfect plan!

Read Matthew 1:1-17. Do you recognize any names? Which ones have you never heard before?

Listen to a variety of Christmas songs. Discuss which ones tell about Jesus & which ones don’t.

Go on a walk and pray for your neighbors to know the truth of Christ this Christmas!

Make a family tree and see how far back you can go!
