Connect the Dots | JAN WK 1

We are kicking off our new year diving into the FRUITS of the SPIRIT: The amazing gift from God to show people what His love looks like. Our goal with this series is to help our kids observe and recognize when they see the fruit being displayed in their daily lives.

Jesus perfectly displays what our fruits should look like when fully grown! As we deepen our relationship with God, He graciously grows this same fruit in us! “It may be significant that the word fruit is singular; Paul is not speaking of a series of fruits that would be shared around, so that one believer has one, another another. Rather he is referring to a cluster, such that all the qualities are to be manifested in each believer.” (Morris, Leon Galatians: Paul’s Charter of Christian Freedom (Downers Grove, Illinois: InterVarsity Press, 1996)

Pick a new fruit (or a few) at the store to try as a family!

Using the dictionary, look up and discuss the definitions of: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, & self-control. Is it possible to exhibit all of these on our own? Why or why not?

Post Galatians 5:22-23 and “spy” when you see fruit displayed in books, movies, or in family behavior. Who can spy the most?
