Connect the Dots | May | Week 2

The Armor of God is not armor we can see with our eyes. But it is REAL armor that helps us each day as we learn to live more like Christ. And just like the fruit of the Spirit is singular (several words to describe the one fruit we receive from the Holy Spirit), so too is the Armor of God one suit, and we are to put on each individual piece every day.

We can read about Gideon in the book of Judges. God declared Him a warrior and Gideon responded with questions. So many questions. The Lord simply replied: “But I will be with you.” God was not asking Gideon to use his own strength but to rely on his FAITH in God.

Gideon obeyed and gathered soldiers. God repeatedly said it was too many until only 300 remained. There was no way for them to boast in their numbers. God wanted it to be clear that HE alone had been victorious.

When God asks us to use our Shield of Faith, He is asking us to have faith in WHO He is, not in what will happen.

Judges 6-7
Let everyone share something they heard.

How has God moved in your family that has left you in awe?

Shields were essential defense. They were likely about the size of our doors—large enough to hide behind!

The Bible describes our faith as a shield. How can our faith protect and defend us?
