My Journey to Georgetown – Kara Scott

Hello! My name is Kara Scott, I’m 23 years old, and I am super excited to announce that I will be moving to Georgetown, Texas this year! My journey to Georgetown began a year ago. I was gearing up to go on a mission trip and was concentrating on what God wanted me to do while I was there. My constant prayer was that God would use me in any way He needed while we were there.

When we got back from the trip, I remember hearing more and more about the church plant in Georgetown, and thinking to myself, no, that’s not for me. At the time all I could think about was finishing school, applying for my teaching license, and settling more into life in Conway. However, over the course of the summer, I kept repeating the prayer, God, use me. I don’t know what lies ahead, but I trust You.

A month had gone by and I still had the idea of Georgetown in my head, but I was pushing it to the very back, thinking it wasn’t for me. Finally, I went to a meeting about Antioch Georgetown to see what it was really about. Man! Was I blown away at what God was already doing in the people already committed to going and the people that were deciding. I walked away that night pondering all those things in my heart and started researching how to get a Texas teaching license, although I hadn’t committed to going just yet.

Over the next couple of months, I began to think more and more about Georgetown, and if this was something God wanted me to do. Because I was about to graduate, I had many people asking me what I was going to do afterwards. I had absolutely no idea! Finally, I acknowledged the feeling in my heart, and prayed about the possibility of Georgetown. Once I said yes to God, the feeling of uncertainty went away, and now I feel overjoyed and ready for the future!

If God is calling you to do something totally out of your comfort zone, I challenge you to say yes to Him! God will be with you during this journey, He will never abandon you. As a believer in Jesus Christ, I put my faith and trust in His plan and I look forward to seeing everything unfold when we get to Georgetown. Please pray for the team and I as we begin this new journey in our lives, and please pray for the community members of Georgetown as we begin building relationships with them.
